Backbreaker
Backbreaker is an American football video game currently being developed by technology developer NaturalMotion. One of its highlights is the use of the Euphoria engine; a dynamic physics engine that calculates physical interactions (including tackles) on the fly, rather than depending on canned animation. Teams and any other associated licenses have not been announced or confirmed.
More Information
NaturalMotion has released several short videos that focus on a single aspect of the video game's revolutionary engine. Such videos have featured the audio and audience rendering. On April 21, 2008 NaturalMotion released a short video of a mini-game called Tackle Alley that they announced was actual gameplay footage. Followed by that was another trailer in early January, 2010. This video showed core parts to the game, as basic as throwing and catching. The official site opened in late December. When first open it showed various screenshots showing different weather climates, and things of that sort, along with little facts about the game, such as there being a total of 56 teams. It is currently unknown if the Microsoft Windows version has been cancelled due to the high requirements but is confirmed for Xbox360 and PlayStation 3 and iPhone.
The game is rumored to be released in Q2 2010, but NaturalMotion simply said, "It will be ready when it is ready!".
An iPhone OS version of the game was released on September 29, 2009.
On December 1, 2009, Backbreaker was signed by 505 Games
On the official Twitter account for the game it is said that the game will be out sometime in the Spring of 2010. The game website says that it will be released on May 18, 2010. The game will be utilizing the second version of Euphoria, which includes grabbing and looking unlike the 1st version used in Grand Theft Auto IV.
