LittleBigPlanet 2
Little Big Planet 2 takes the original concept of "Play, Create, Share" and drastically improves upon all elements.
More Information
On May 7th 2010, Game Informer revealed that they would be releasing information about LittleBigPlanet 2 in their June 2010 magazine. As information leaks and image scans increased, Media Molecule announced that the news was true and that LBP2 was indeed being worked on.
On May 10, 2010, Media Molecule released a trailer and an official website detailing much of the existing new information.
Gameplay
LittleBigPlanet 2's main focus is no longer platforming, although that is still an integral part. The game's new level creation tools allow for much more than simple platforming gameplay.
The game's new motto a "Platform for Games", tells of the new focus of the creation aspect: Allowing the user to create the experience they want to share. Examples mentioned are racing games, fighting games, RPGs, and more.
Controlling "Direct Control"
New "Create" Devices
Controlinator (formally Direct Control Seat) is a tool that allows the allows the creator to assign commands to the controller when Sackboy is in the seat. Every button and option is mappable except R3, Start, Select, and the PS button, even the Sixaxis commands can be assigned and there is an option for full analoge outputs. The trigger radius for the option to enter the seat can be tweaked, with options for forcing Sackboy into the seat and disabling the option to leave. This allows creators much more vehicle manipulation then the R1 button grabbing the first game had.
Graphics
The game generally looks the same, meaning it still looks like LittleBigPlanet. One of the improvements though, is the lighting. It has been reworked visually which in turn helps on the creating side. It has been stated that because of this, LittleBigPlanet 1 user levels that are loaded up with LittleBigPlanet 2 will look better. When asked if the game would be at a 1080p or 720p resolution, the response was "stay tuned".
